Meet Dr. Aylward
Dr. Aylward received his dental degree from the University College, Dublin (Ireland) in 1975. He then practiced for three years in London, England as a general dentist. Dr. Aylward was awarded a full academic scholarship to study orthodontia at Northwestern University Dental School in Chicago in 1979. Following graduation he remained at the school as an instructor for one and half years. He then associated with orthodontists in Chicago, Schaumburg, and Joliet before opening a practice in Illinois. He still maintains a thriving orthodontic practice in Palatine, Illinois.
Dr. Aylward loves the practice of orthodontics and strives to use state of the art technology and techniques so as to make each patients treatment the finest possible, and provide them with quality, comfortable orthodontic care. Dr. Aylward is a member of the American Association of Orthodontists.
Dr. Aylward is married to Linda and has one daughter, Brynna. Dr. Aylward’s spare time is spent playing jazz saxophone.
In 2011 Dr. Aylward founded the Keep Music Strong Scholarships. These small scholarships are made available annually to students in nearby junior high schools who show special promise in any form of musical expression.
Dr. Aylward is the recipient of the 2009 Oak Park River Forest Infant Welfare Society Community Service Award. This award is given to an individual or agency in the community who has demonstrated commitment to The Children’s Clinic mission and has met the following criteria:

Keep Our Music Strong Scholarship
Because of his love of and dedication to music, Dr. Aylward started a scholarship to award aspiring musicians from local junior highs and high schools in his practice community. His scholarship is intended to be an incentive to any student involved in music in any form. Both junior high and high school recipients will receive scholarship funds for the use of: Private Lessons, Summer Camp Fees and/or Instrument Upgrades. Criteria for award selection should include a student’s future aspirations, dedication, creative self-expression, and potential for growth.
